In the pantheon of the Trypillian gods, one of the main players was the Great Mother Goddess – feminine fertility, which refelcted the idea of regenerative functions of the Earth, woman, and nature. The cult of the mother, which, for Ukrainians, was associated with adoration of the land, became the basis of the dominant ethnic Ukrainian national character. Yuri Lipa, a prominent Ukrainian ethnopsychologist believes that “… in the center of spirituality (…) stands woman-mother – an image of the Great Mother, the deity of the ancestors of modern Ukrainians.”
